Dear Neighbor

I am excited to announce that I am running for Shoreline City Council! I am a 20 year resident of Shoreline, active in our community and passionate about our city. I have chosen to run against incumbent Maggie Fimia, because I feel it is time to restore true community participation and vision that leads to the best use of our tax dollars.

The current city council is spending down our reserves and giving tax breaks to special interests while increasing utility taxes for the rest of us. Councils of the past have had the forethought to fix our streets, improve our parks, negotiate an economical police contract and increase programs slowly and within the city's budget. Without new leadership on the council, we run the risk of turning back all the progress the city has made for us in its first ten years and continually asking the taxpayers to foot the bill.

For the first time in our city's history, there is a primary election in almost every local race, including this one. This is another indicator that people want new leadership on the city council. I have a demonstrated record of working in partnership to get things done, making difficult but thoughtful decisions, and not wasting people's time. It is time to return control of the city council to people who will listen to you and then make timely decisions.

Twenty years ago, my husband and I made Shoreline our home because of the sense of community and the excellent public schools. For the past 10 years I have been a widow and homemaker, focused on raising my children. I know what it is like to have to work hard to make ends meet and to focus on giving your family the best life you can under challenging circumstances. I intend to take that same approach and intensity to the city council.

The general election is November 6th, just a few short weeks away. Working together we can bring new leadership and a new direction to our city.

I need your financial support, your time as a volunteer and your endorsement. And I need it today! Please give generously!
