Biography
Born:
Pearl City, Hawaii to Tadashi and Irene Ichiko in 1952.
Parents:
Tadashi served in the United State Army for 22 years, retired and
then worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Irene is a homemaker.
Both parents are living in Steilacoom, Washington.
Family
history: Doris is the oldest of four daughters. All the girls graduated
from Washington State University, fulfilling their parents' dream
that all their children would be college graduates. All members
of Doris' family live in Western Washington. Doris' sisters are
Kathy (accountant), Thelma (educator for public school) and Grace
(Nordstrom manager). While growing up, the family moved over five
times and attended six schools (K-12). Doris married David McConnell,
MD in 1975. They were married 23 years. Doris became a widow in
1998 and has not remarried.
Education:
Doris is an honor graduate from Lakes High School (Clover Park School
District). She received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1974
from Washington State University. She entered a master's program
in School Psychology at Western Washington University and has done
post-graduate work at the University of Washington.
Work
Experience: ATT computer room supervisor, Boeing Airplane Company,
school psychologist for Bremerton School District, real estate agent,
and property manager.
Community
Service: Richmond Little League Board, Klahahya Swim and Tennis
Club Board, Girl Scouts' Troop leader, YMCA hiking trip volunteer,
Shorewood Boosters chair, PTA President, Secretary, Treasurer, Ways
and Means, Levy, Membership, Hospitality, Local Units Services,
Syre Playground Grant writer and fundraiser, Richmond Beach Community
Association Halloween Carnival and Pizza Mia Benefit Lunch chair,
and Shoreline Public School District Advisory Committees for budget
and programs and operations.
Financial
